Club sandwich

Another weekend has past, and this time I don’t mind since this is my day off work after a weekend spent in the store. Even though I have worked a lot, I did manage to spend some time in the kitchen. Since we had some chicken breast in the freezer, I decided to go for a new favorite that we had just some weeks ago, Club Sandwich. Yes, you might remember that this was one of the dishes served at our “American Friday”, but I got to say that this time, it became even more delicious!

It might look quite complicated, but it’s fairly simple to make. The only tricky part is the “construction” of the sandwiches, which can be pretty messy and stressful since you want to serve them a bit warm.

For 2-3 persons
2 chicken breast (kycklingfiléer)
Chili flakes
Dried parsley
120 g bacon (1 paket bacon)

Start with the chicken breast. Season them with the spices above or use a blend that you like. Remember to season them pretty much though since the chicken is the big player in this dish. Cook the chicken in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until cooked, in 175 degrees Celcius. During the time the chicken is in the oven you may fry your bacon and then put in on some paper to get rid of the excess fat.

Börja med kycklingen och krydda den med de nämnda kryddorna, eller dina favoritkryddor. Det viktiga är att inte vara för sparsam med kryddningen eftersom kycklingen är en av huvudspelarna i denna rätt. Stek kycklingfiléerna i ugnen i ca 30 minuter, eller till dess att de är klara, i 175 grader. Under tiden kycklingen tillagas, stek bacon och låt den rinna av på lite hushållspapper för att bli av med det överflödiga fettet.

8 slices of bread to toast
Salad of your choice
Red onion
(Use the vegetables that you like and vary them to get new exiting flavors)

For the dressing
1 dl quark (kvarg)
1 tbsp mayonnaise (majonnäs)
1 clove garlic, crushed (1 pressad vitlökslyfta)
Salt and pepper

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and let it rest in the fridge until it’s time to make the sandwiches.

Blanda alla ingredienser i en skål och låt den vila i kylen tills dess att det är dags att bygga ihop smörgåsarna.

When the chicken breast and bacon are done, toast the bread. Put one slice of toasted bread on a plate. Add the dressing (put on a lot of it, it’s gooood!), then bacon, chicken and vegetables. Finish up with another slice of bread and then put in some toothpicks to keep the sandwiches together. Cut them in half and place them on a platter and serve!

När kycklingen och baconen är redo så är det dags att rosta brödet för att sedan bygga ihop mackorna. Lägg en brödskiva nederst, kladda på lite dressing (eller mycket), lägg på bacon, kyckling (som du har skivat upp i skivor) och grönsaker. Avsluta med en till brödskiva och sätt i tandpetare för att hålla ihop mackorna. Dela smörgåsen på hälften och lägg upp på ett fat för servering.
