Thyme steaks

Minced meat is a lovely thing to cook with according to me. Not because it’s the most flavorful meat option or spectacular in any way, but because it’s cheap, and you can do a bunch of nice meals of it. Anything from bolognese, chili con carne, meatloaf, steaks and lasagna. This time I went for something new, something that I never cooked before at least. The result was these fine thyme steaks, packed with flavors and embedded in a nice creamy sauce.

4 portions
1 onion
1 carrot (morot)
1 tbsp thyme (1 msk timjan)
1/2 tbsp butter
500 g minced meat from beef (nötfärs)
1 egg
1 tsp salt (tsk)
1/2 tsp black pepper

2 1/2 dl cream
1 dl water
1 stock cube (buljongtärning)
Thickening (redning)
Salt and pepper

Peal onion and carrot, chop the onion finely and grate the carrot. Fry onion and thyme in butter until soften, add the carrots and fry another minute or two. Mix the minced meat with egg, salt, pepper, onion and carrots. Make small steaks out of the mixture.

Fry the steaks in butter on both sides. Blend together cream, water and stock cube and add this to the pan with the steaks. Let it boil together with the steaks for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Serve the steaks with some potatoes and broccoli.

Skala lök och morot. Hacka löken fint och riv moroten. Stek lök tillsammans med timjan i smör tills det mjuknat. Tillsätt morötterna och låt det steka ytterligare någon minut. Blanda samman köttfärsen med den stekta löken och moroten, ägg, salt och peppar. Forma till färsbiffar och stek dem på vadera sida. När biffarna fått steka ett tag och är klara, tillsätt vatten, grädde och buljongtärning och låt det koka samman i ca 5 minuter. Smaka av med salt och peppar och servera biffarna i såsen med kokt potatis och broccoli.
